Resources

Writers Workshop

The Writers Workshop for students in grades 4 – 12.   Students will create fiction books that will be submitted to CESA  #12 and evaluated using a rubric, aligned to the 6 Traits of Writing + 1, which is a model that is aligned to English Language Arts and Language Standards.  Successful authors will be invited to attend the spring Writers Workshop to receive their books and attend mini-workshops that help them to develop writing techniques.  The Writers Workshop student event will be scheduled face-to-face or virtually in the spring.  The grant will pay for student transportation, books, substitute costs, CESA  grant coordinator visits to your schools, and lunch, creation of a new course in Google Classroom, which will walk students through the steps of creating a book online.

Global X

Global X  has a number of global citizenship activities for grades 4-8.  Kids will do a cultural exchange with students from Hawaii using FlipGrid to videotape their questions and answers in a secure online platform. They will also do a fundraising project for the Maui Red Cross relief fund.  Last year students earned money for our Zimbabwe Primary School partner.  Students will attend a spring celebration and participate in activities related to global citizenship.   The grant will pay for student transportation, substitute costs, CESA grant coordinator visits to your schools, and lunches, and the creation of a new Google Classroom which will walk students through activities aligned with Wisconsin’s Information & Technology Literacy Standards.

Public Service Announcement (PSA) Activity

This student activity is an inquiry-based project where students, grades 4-12,  pick a relevant topic or social problem and create a Public Service Announcement (or PSA) in movie format.  Students will create a PSA for their peers, adhere to guidelines for copyright and research requirements, and follow a rubric for the actual video.  Successful videographers will be invited to a Spring PSA Day, where we will share videos and learn new skills.  The grant will pay for student transportation, materials, substitute costs, CESA grant coordinator visits to your schools, and lunches, and the creation of a new Google Classroom with activities aligned to Wisconsin Standards for Marketing, Management & Entrepreneurship.

New Proposed Activity is a math related project based activity for students 3-6.
