Navigating ACT 30-Teaching the Holocaust & Other Genocides

Two-day Professional Development Training The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center (HERC) will be hosting a professional development to prepare educators to implement Act 30. Topics include Holocaust history, methodology for teaching the Holocaust and other genocides -including the 1994 genocide in Rwanda- and a workshop on their new teacher training tool, the Holocaust Education Map. The interactive, hands-on workshop will provide educators with tangible resources, lesson plans, and exercises they can use in their classroom. Day One: Educators will gain background knowledge on the Holocaust as well as tangible examples of how they can use this material in their classrooms. Day Two: Educators will conduct their own research using the demonstrated framework, discuss methodology, and learn the dos and don'ts of Holocaust education.
